Slowly Creating a More Intentional Kitchen

Over time we have slowly started making more intentional choices throughout our kitchen in ways that feel realistic, sustainable, and supportive of everyday family life. Nothing extreme or fear based, simply small thoughtful swaps over time that help our kitchen feel calmer, cleaner, more functional, and easier to maintain.

These are some of the healthier kitchen swaps, materials, and everyday homemaking choices we personally gravitate toward throughout our home.

Everyday Swaps

Small Swaps We Slowly Made Over Time

Plastic Storage → Glass Storage

We slowly started swapping plastic food containers for glass storage whenever possible, especially for leftovers and meal prep.

Disposable Products → Reusable Systems

We started gravitating toward reusable kitchen cloths, longer lasting cleaning tools, and more sustainable everyday systems.

Older Nonstick → Ceramic Cookware

Over time we slowly replaced older worn cookware with ceramic and higher quality pieces that felt more durable and intentional.

Cluttered Systems → Simpler Organization

Creating simpler organization systems throughout the kitchen has helped everyday life feel calmer and easier to maintain.

Everyday Kitchen Knowledge

Why We Personally Love Glass

We personally love glass food storage and dinnerware because it feels timeless, minimal, lightweight, durable, easy to clean, and beautifully simple throughout everyday family life.

We especially love that glass feels elevated while still functioning beautifully for everyday use throughout our kitchen.

That said, every material comes with tradeoffs. We personally try to avoid sudden temperature changes with many glass pieces and often avoid microwaving certain glass items when possible simply to help preserve longevity over time.

For us, healthier kitchen swaps have never been about perfection. It is simply about making slow thoughtful choices over time that help our home feel calmer, more intentional, functional, and supportive of everyday family life.
