Creating Meaningful Gatherings Around the Table

Some of our favorite family moments happen gathered around the table together. Over time we have slowly started making more intentional kitchen swaps throughout our home including glass dinnerware, stainless steel flatware, and longer lasting kitchen essentials that feel timeless, practical, and beautifully lived in throughout everyday family life.

Intentional Kitchen Living

What We Personally Look For

We are not experts or scientists, just a family slowly making healthier kitchen swaps over time in ways that feel realistic and sustainable for everyday life. We personally try to focus on choosing materials that feel durable, timeless, practical, easier to maintain, and supportive of intentional family living.

Materials We Tend To Love

  • Glass dinnerware and bowls
  • Stainless steel flatware
  • Ceramic cookware
  • Wood kitchen utensils
  • Long lasting durable materials
  • Minimal timeless kitchen pieces
  • Everyday essentials that are easy to maintain

Things We Personally Try To Avoid

  • Older scratched nonstick coatings
  • Plastic food storage for hot foods when possible
  • Lower quality utensils that chip or melt easily
  • Kitchen items that wear down very quickly
  • Overly disposable kitchen products
  • Low quality materials that are difficult to maintain

Why We Personally Love Glass Dinnerware

We personally love glass dinnerware because it feels lightweight, timeless, minimal, clean, durable, and elevated throughout everyday family life. We especially love how simple it feels while still being practical enough for regular everyday meals and gatherings.

That said, every material comes with tradeoffs. We personally try to avoid sudden temperature changes with many glass pieces and often avoid microwaving certain glass items when possible simply to help preserve longevity over time.

We also regularly inspect plates and bowls for chips or cracks and replace pieces as needed throughout everyday family use. For us, it is less about perfection and more about slowly creating a kitchen that feels intentional, functional, warm, and supportive of everyday life at home.
