Faith, Family, and the Heart Behind Lumiere Vive

My name is Aimee Barro. I have been married to my husband, Matthew, for 20 years, and I am a mother of six children and the woman behind Lumiere Vive. We have spent our years together raising our family, working, and learning to follow Jesus in our everyday lives.

Our story includes raising our children, grieving the loss of our daughter through stillbirth and another baby through miscarriage, building multiple businesses, and completely starting over. Through those experiences, my relationship with Jesus has changed the way I see my life.

Where It All Began

On October 27, 2016, I opened Joss & J Boutique in honor of our daughter, Joselyn Mae, who was stillborn in April of that year. Her life mattered deeply, and her name became part of something I would spend years building.

Joss & J grew to three locations, one in Arizona and two in Texas, while our online business connected us with families across many countries. Through those years, I met families who became friends, worked alongside other small businesses, and built relationships that have stayed with me.

When Joss & J closed in 2024, that chapter ended, but so many of those relationships continued. Some of you first walked through our doors years ago. Others knew us only online. I am beyond grateful that you are still here and still part of our story.

October 27: The Day Everything Changed

Exactly six years after we first opened Joss & J, on October 27, 2022, our son Jagger lay in the ICU at Children’s Hospital in Dallas. We did not know if he would survive the night.

Jagger had tried to run while still wet after getting out of the bathtub and fell. He suffered a stroke that left him with paralysis on one side of his body. He began having seizures while the doctors were examining him, and they told us he might not make it through the night.

I went down to the hospital chapel, got on my knees, and pleaded with God to keep my little boy here. I told Him I would do anything. I begged Him to please heal my baby boy.

Not long after that prayer, things began to turn around. Jagger survived and went on to recover completely. Today, he has no lasting effects from what happened. I believe God answered that prayer, and I will always give Him the glory for Jagger’s healing.

That experience changed the direction of my entire life. I began reading Scripture and seeking Jesus for myself. I wanted to know Him, understand His Word, and learn how to follow Him.

My Surrender to Jesus

I was baptized in June 2019, but after Jagger’s accident in October 2022, I began seeking Jesus more closely. In January 2025, I fully surrendered my life to Him.

That surrender continues to shape how I approach marriage, motherhood, work, and every decision in front of me. I am a prayer warrior. Prayer is part of my everyday life, and I bring both the little things and the things that feel impossible before Him.

I want to seek God through His Word and follow His direction even when I cannot see how everything will come together. I am still learning, and I need His grace every day.

As my faith has grown, so has my desire to help children learn about Jesus, open Scripture with other women, support families, and serve the people around us in practical ways.

A Community Built Across the Miles

Over the years, our business brought us into the lives of people in many different places. Every order, conversation, store visit, and message connected us with families we might never have met otherwise.

Texas holds a special place in our hearts. We spent three years raising our family there, opened stores, welcomed our baby girl, and became part of communities we still deeply love. The people who welcomed and supported us remain an important part of our lives.

As this next chapter develops, I want our whole community to feel welcome. Whether you live nearby in Arizona or have followed us from miles away, my prayer is that we can continue growing in faith and finding ways to serve together wherever we live.

Why We Want to Serve

As a mother, I know how much it matters to have people who will listen, pray with you, encourage your children, and offer practical help. Through serving in children’s ministry, I also find myself thinking about the lessons, supplies, preparation, and personal attention that help children and families feel cared for.

I want to put my time and experience toward that work. Sometimes that may mean preparing Bible lessons or organizing a room. Other times it may mean gathering requested supplies, bringing volunteers together, or helping meet a specific need.

Matthew currently works full time in his family’s company and provides for our family. Our intention is to serve Lumiere Vive Ministries without taking salaries for ourselves. We are praying for the wisdom and resources to care faithfully for the responsibilities this work may bring.

Taking Our Next Steps in Faith

Lumiere Vive means bright light. My prayer is that the way we live, work, and serve will always point people toward Jesus Christ.

We are in the very beginning stages of establishing Lumiere Vive Ministries. We are praying for a future ministry home while taking steps to build relationships and serve with what we have today.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about our family and the heart behind this work. Whether you have been here for years or are meeting us for the first time, I am so grateful for the opportunity to share this chapter with you.

So much love,
Aimee
